A free Veterans Stand Down Event for all Active Duty and Military Veterans and their dependents

On April 9, from 10:00 AM until 4:00 PM, the American Legion Post 82 at 6330 Crain Highway will be hosting their second Veterans Stand Down Event. The focus of the event is for veterans to connect with numerous agencies and service providers to include Veterans Affairs benefits (initial claim process), health care, burial benefits, assistance with writing a resume, transition from military to civilian life and assist those who are homeless and much more.

The purpose of this letter is to ask the public to help spread the word about this event to all Active Duty and Military Veterans. For this event to be the success we want it to be, are military and veterans need to know about it. So pass the information on to any active duty or military person you know. Tell them to bring their Military or VA ID or DD-214 and if making an initial claim for benefits, copies of their DOD health records and come to the American Legion Post 82 in La Plata on April 9th. Call George Hawley at 240-367-6489 or ghawley83@gmail.com for more information.

The closest Van Go stop would be at Walgreens in La Plata. A short walk to the Post for those using Van Go for the event.

Lets all do our part to make this event a success and help our Veterans. We owe them our freedom. Lets show them how much we appreciate them and their sacrifices.
