Or else he'd have been flattened yesterday afternoon.

aps, glad you were paying attention - in my rearview I saw that car pull out in front of you near Giant. (hard to miss the silver bike w/ the bunny)

Turned out I knew her  She had been riding with me Sunday morning.
She called and apologized later, said she didn't see me till I blew the horn and gestured to indicate that she was #1 with me.

Sounds like you need some loud pipes and Harley lights and chrome...:yikes:
I've got melt your cornea headlights, better than my car's.
Most folks are looking for cars when they're in traffic, bikes don't register in their widdle brains.

Just read my hometown paper and a Cousin had to lay his bike down because of a car pulling out in front of him yesterday. No details other than he told the cop he couldn't feel his feet and is in the hospital right now. He's 56. Car driver was ticketed.

Bikes stop better when you keep the rubber on the road..

When you see him, give him one of these :smack:
Anybody that says that needs to take a motorcycle safety course. You can get knocked down or screw up and fall down but anybody that thinks it's a good idea to drop your bike at speed on purpose shouldn't be riding.
Your tires will stop you much quicker than the metal on the side of the bike.

Wow! My boys have been riding dirt bikes since they were 6. They have trained with the best and have always been told to drop and kick the bikes.

Riding on asphalt is totally different, and falling and pushing a bike away is dfferent than intentionally laying a bike down in an accident, that's Hollywood and CHiPs.. From 5o miles an hour a bike and rider will slide a very long distance and still hit the obstacle they were trying to avoid, staying on the rubber and brakes in most cases, will avoid an impact. Or could be the difference between hitting a car with your body going 40MPH or declerating on the bike down to 10 - 15...

What they said, "laying down" one's motorcycle instead of braking and steering to avoid a collision is never a good idea. I ride with both brakes covered and keep my head on a swivle. I also understand I'm completely invisible to BDCs. Seems to have worked pretty well for the last thirty years or so.
