As I have mentioned before we are looking to put an addition on our house. We have been working a little with a contractor but obviously I need some plans done. Well the contractor referred one and I called him and he charges 2.25 a square foot. To me and the contractor, this was extrememly steep and he says he wont be referring him anymore. Does anyone have an referrals for achitects and any insight as to what the average fees for this work is?

Thanks in advance! :huggy:

As a home improvements contractor I can personally recommend KGL Drafting and Design
His name is Kin C Lee and he can design and get you a good price, Honestly it varies with every job however very good at what he does and what he charges, Call him at 301-843-8483 and let him know Art King with AJK Home Improvements recommend him.

Yeah already called him- 2.25 a square foot was the ball park he gave me. That sounds a little absurd with adding 640 square feet in a perfect "L" shape with only one wall. No closets, no nothing. I am shopping around and will almost definitely NOT be using him for 1500 dollars.

drafting and what not

Yeah, some may think prices are high, however you do not get the same quality with some drafting and architects. Kin is deffinetly one that will NOT do you wrong. Kin is very good at what he does, plus will work to get you what you want vs what your gonna get with others. I know for a fact you get accurate drafting, accurate to the T. Plus you dont have to worry about getting the wrong side of the shaft. You deffinetly get what you pay for now a days. Plus you do not have to get certified architects to draw up a normal set of plans. You can use just about any home design software that can be submitted to the county, however when they ask the contractor about them, he better know what is being done to the T. Ie Floor joists, subfloor, walls, insulation, CMU vs 10" poured walls,Block ect. Again you will get what you pay for...Architects make the contractor look good too.. A well drawn set of plans will pass the permits aspect faster than a hand drawn set anyday. :coffee:
