so its a socialist or a socialist :killingme
More accurately, it's a dictatorial, fiscally irresponsible, repressive socialist - or a guy who isn't politically willing to suggesting ridding the country of the quasi-socialistic status quo, but is compassionate enough to help people without force.

Progressive taxes are a small form of socialism, and I firmly disagree with the concept. But, it's not the same as specifially calling for it to be skewed even further to Robin Hood politics. Especially in a time of economic crisis.

Tax incentives for health care is very wrong. Not nearly as wrong as mandating government run care - and be fined if you don't follow along with the mandates. One is help to the people who need it more (a form of socialism), and the other is strong armed, dictatorial tactics to make socialist policies happen.

So, your choice is sorta bad, or horrifically bad.

Feel better you got acknowledgement?
Are you inferring that if Obama is elected that he will turn this country into a dictatorship?

That's laughable at best...

I wasn't implying it, but clearly you were inferring it.

However, his methods stink of a dictatorial self-image he has. He's more than willing to decide what to do with all of your money, "allowing" you to keep what portion he feels is right, "allowing" you to keep what doctor you choose, deciding for you what rich is and therefore whether or not you are able to give a SIGNIFICANTLY higher portion of your income so that 40-50% of the population can live better off of the fruits of your success, etc.....

Not true. Check this data from the Census Bureau

With the exception of his first year, which was a recession year (thanks to Clinton), the mean income has continued to go up throughout Bush's presidency.
Like I said.

The rich/well off have gained hand over fist compared to the working class.

Crunch a some numbers.

(You're only showing up to 2006) btw.

The working class have made 1k ~ 3k in that same time period. That can't even cover inflation. Not to mention the rising costs of gas etc...

Thank you for that table.

For the betterment of the American people.

Do you actually think that he is only serving himself?

Do you really know what he thinks about this country and what it means to be American - to him?

I'm not talking about all the conservative rags you read or the stuff on tv.

How are you certain that he doesn't have the country's best interests in mind?

You're not.

You can just continue to SHOW your views and opinions on the matter.

You actually don't know anything.

Dictatorial tactics? Like what?
Fines for not following the health care mandates (instead of just letting a person decide for themself what - if any - insurance they choose to carry).

Environmental codes specifically against electric companies that would, by his own estimation, bankrupt an industry with which he disagrees but has no ability to actually stop.

Taxation rates against individuals to effectively criminalize success through excessive "fines" (read: taxes) for being wealthy.

Taxation rates against oil companies for the crime of making "too much" profit.

Need I go on?

False.

Through the National Health Insurance Exchange people will be able to use the same healthcare provided by members of congress or opt for a participating private plan.

An approx. 3% raise on taxes. Give tax incentives (breaks) to those companies that continue to invest in the American people by providing jobs to the working class here.

For the betterment of the American people.
The American people have the right to decide for themselves what their betterment is.

If you disagree, then you must think that abortion is wrong, because denying it would be for the betterment of the babies involved. Gay marriage needs to be outlawed, because the bulk of the American population is Christian - and Christians are against gay marriage. All cars must have at least 100 mpg - regardless of feasibility or cost to the consumer - because that's for the betterment of all. Long pants will be outlawed on days that are greater then 78.3F, because you're too stupid to know what is right for you - only the government can decide what is in your betterment. Marriage licenses for the heterosexual people will need to go through a government version of Match.com to ensure compatibility. All vacations will need to be handled through the government version of Priceline.com, to make sure you don't pay too much. No matter looking up whether any of this is true or not, of course, because the government can decide what is actually for the betterment than you or I can, right?

In other words, that's a bull#### excuse. I can decide for myself, and I neither want nor need an Obama administration handling it for me. Nor taking more of my tax dollars to provide for those who can't figure it out for themselves.
Do you actually think that he is only serving himself?
Mostly, but he's doing so by serving his horrifically flawed ideological belief.
Do you really know what he thinks about this country and what it means to be American - to him?
No, and I don't care. I can see what he wants to do to it by what he admits, and that's bad enough. I don't need to hear what he really thinks that's even stronger than what he advocates.
I'm not talking about all the conservative rags you read or the stuff on tv.

How are you certain that he doesn't have the country's best interests in mind?
In all honesty, I think HE thinks he does, more or less. I think he's the type to say, "Ours is the greatest country on earth - that's why I'm running on a platform of change. It needs to be changed to my ideological bent, then it will be even better."

Because, in all literal senses, that's exactly what he's said. We're a great country, and he's gonna change it.

TRUE

Can they opt out of insurance completely if they choose?

If not (and, they can't), what happens if they disagree and choose to have no insurance?
An approx. 3% raise on taxes.
Even if that were true, and we go with the original lie of $250,000 (not the more recent $200,000, or 150,000, or even 120,000), let's see what that means.

$250,000
X 3%
$7,500 additional fine for success.

Thanks for proving my point.

I'm just telling what Obama is actually saying. Not what you are hearing from his eloquent tone.
