Are We Being Poisoned?

Just sneakin' around....
A few weeks ago, tons of chicken product was recalled for contamination. Couple of days ago it was reported that E. coli contaminated bagged carrots have sickened dozens, left one dead. In my new feed this morning, 160,000 lbs of ground beef being recalled for E. coli.

There have been contamination cases before, and will be again, but it seems these are happening way to often lately. Bad handling practices? Disgruntled foreign workers upset about new Trump policies? Planned attacks from outside sources? If nothing else, be aware.

And trivia for those who don't know. E. coli is shorthand for Entamoeba coli, the full Latin name for the bug. Learned a lot more than I cared to in my parasitology classes. :twitch:

I thought E. Coli was spanish for Mexican Food.

Could the increase of e.coli be because of the increase of illegals in the workplace who don’t have the same sanitary habits as the rest of us? And what has caused the increase of illegals in the workforce? More regulations and higher minimum wages of course. The government is to blame for most problems in society.

I take these recalls with a grain of salt. If thousands/millions of product has been sold, and 10 people got sick..... It doesn't make logical sense to me that it was the product.

I get that they're trying to avoid lawsuits but one would think some common sense would be applied and the lawyers would point out that statistically zero people got sick from the product. I feel like something else is in play here.

Probably Escherichia coli. Entamoeba coli is also a thing, but these outbreaks are usually the other one.

Common sense would point to no. E. Coli is simultaneously one of the easiest things to accidentally contaminate food with (just takes not washing hands after going to the bathroom) and is also one of the least effective things you could try to intentionally poison someone with. Most strands of E. Coli don't negatively affect most people, and it is easily killed with cooking. You hear about a dozen people getting sick, but there were probably many hundreds or thousands exposed who didn't get sick.

I told the missus that exact same thing. Probably caught this cold sore from infected produce from an illegal, same way I caught those other sores from a dirty toilet seat.

A little bit off, it’s escherichia coli bacteria and its natural home is in your gut. If it’s in your food it’s because someone crapped in the field. Entamoeba coli is a waterborne parasite that causes other issues.
