It's happened. I've read other cases of the same thing. Some people just don't know, and lead such a sheltered life and have so many religious hangups that they either don't do it or don't know.

If they wanted to, though... they could annul the marriage since it was never consumated.

Well, humans have the ability to control our bowel movements. Maybe in the process of developing sentience, we lost the ability to figure out the mechanics of procreation by pure instinct. Maybe humans have no instinct anymore.

I rather think the problem with the 'infertile couple' in question has less to do with figuring out the mechanics of their bodies and more to do with a religious upbringing that caused them not to explore each other, and not allowing themselves to engage in all that sick dirty sex stuff.
