:yay: and thank-you

On a personal note, I'm so over McAfee, intrusive is a under statement. :banghead:

Any advise on an alternative... TIA

We can't stand McAfee in this house either. Don't have any alternatives though.

Mcafee is one of the worst out there anymore. I've seen it flag viruses and claim that it cleaned them only for it to pop up again 2 minutes later with the same virus. Plus it's a resource hog. I like Norton and AVG the best.

I have norton Internet Security and I like it. I just had to renew my subscription and it asked "If I wanted to upgrade" so I clicked yes and it did.

Unfortunately the older version embedded a spam filter on my outlook and when I upgraded the spam filter was gone. I cannot figure out how to activate it again and now I have to manually delete all the APS emails.

You delete all of Aps' emails? :faint:

Indeed it is, Suuuuuuuuey! Bogs my system down.

Additionally, I have a variant of "Cool Web Search". Adaware finds it and supposidly removes it. CW Shreader doesn't even identify it. I believe it re-instaling itself at boot-up, how and where is the question.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions, going to use the trend house call when I get home.

I run spyware and ad-aware practically daily and though it cleans the stuff, the stuff is always back within 24 hours. I don't know how to get rid of it permanently.

Stuff?
Spyware, Malware?

You might have the smae situation I do. Somewhere a .exe file has been rooted on your system and subsequent registry entries are made. I don't screw with the registry :berryscaryplace:

Seems to be spyware stuff... I have a registry cleaner, but I always end up having "stuff" that needed cleaning each time I run something.

Our connection comes through a broadband router which has a built in firewall. That blocks a lot of stuff.

As far as antivirus, I'm with the other posters on here who say Norton is a resource hog. I prefer AVG and Housecall Trend Micro.
