Are you willing to pay a monthly fee to...

read articles on The Washington Post website?

Why would anyone be willing to pay a monthly fee to read news on one website that can be found on a number of other free news websites...

The Washington Post will phase in a paid online subscription model for Web content starting June 12, charging some readers $9.99 a month for access to more than 20 articles a month on desktop and mobile devices.

For $14.99 a month, readers can get a premium package that includes access to all of The Post’s custom apps.

This is happening in Australia as well and slowly tkaing over as they lose paper subscriptions and members. You can blame Rupert Murdoch for this... They need to get funds somehow.

When I see the word "Washington" in anything, I feel violated. The Washington Post is no different..

I know of one newspaper here in Maine that went that way last year. It was the first paper I immediately deleted from my favorites list. It wasn't even a major newspaper so suppose they just needed money.

Nope, not when the same news is being reported basically everywhere else for FREE

The issue is that most sites are now tagging the news with disclaimers stating that this cannot be copied or viewed on another website. Google are having a issue with this with various news organizations like reuter's.:nono:
