Are your kids getting flu shots

Do you think that kids should get flu shots? Why/why not? I'm talking about a normal healthy child, not someone who is already in a risky group should they catch the flu?

I always have my 2 kids get the flu shot. Even if they are healthy they can still catch the flu from kids in their class, or just coming in contact with sick people. So it is good protection. School age kids get the flumist at school for free, they do this to keep kids healthy so they don't miss school. Flumist doesn't contain mercury either.

I got my little one his flu shot when he went in for his 12month shots. I figured since he was in day care it would be best? They told me it was my choice, I figured it couldn't hurt?

My son has gotten the flu shot the past 2 yrs and will receive it this year as well. He is 10. My daughter on the other hand I'm questioning. She is only 7 months. I'm not sure what I want to do. She doesnt' go to daycare, but with my son in school bringing home the germs I would like to. But another part of me says she is to young for the shot.

Any inputs?

flu shot

I just think that too much is being vaccinated against and our bodies aren't fighting things the way mother nature intended. To the poster who said can't hurt, please do some research on thimerosal, mercury, vaccinations. Yes tragic side affects are rare but a chance I'm not sure I want to take. I'm still on the fence. I just haven't seen it proven that the flu shot actually prevents the flu - seems like every year they get the wrong strain of flu in the vaccination. And the nasal spray is a Live vaccine.

Every year children die from the flu. Mine are getting vaccinated. FluMist does not contain thimerosal or preservatives.

and every year children die from the vaccine. I really am not trying to sway one way or the other. I'm just trying to look at big picture and weigh the pros/cons and make an educated decision. Seems like you're damned if you do and damned if you don't.
