An armed, off-duty Maryland police officer sent two suspected carjackers fleeing when he fired his weapon as they forced his family out of a vehicle near a large shopping mall outside of Washington, D.C., police say.

Wouldn't it be great if the rest of us in Maryland could fire a shot and scare away carjackers and thieves.
Of course if I fired a shot in the air at a parking lot I would be subject to arrest, It pays to be an off-duty cop I guess.
I am not allowed to carry without a permit that includes me paying a couple of hundred bucks to some outfit that teaches gun safety although I have owned and used guns for over 70 years. Then of course if I went to the carjacking capitol of the United States my gun permit would be useless.
