I thought there was a small/personal facility somewhere in the 7th district. Try calling the office on aging to see if they have any recommendations.

You want cheap, for your grandmother? Sorry don't mean to be rude!
What do you think you'll get for "cheap"?
How about Medicare-some accept it.
My father is in a wonderful assisted living residence on the Eastern Shore, all of us (siblings) had to fight tooth n nail to get him approved for Medicare because his pension and SS check wasn't enough.
We all wanted him to move in with us, he had to give up all his worldly belongings-but this is where he chose and wanted to be.
I wish you much luck in finding the right place for your grandmother-its a hard thing to do!
It is very expensive to find someone, other than a loved one, care for a loved family member!!

Yes, I would like cheaper than 3000 a month. I cannot afford that and she only gets a SS check, there is nothing out there to help. What a shame, we can house inmates for years for mega bucks but there are no funds for the elderly.....

I can recommend a nice place in Calvert that is substantially less. My grandmother has been there for over 3 years. Send me a pm if you are interested. They have a room available.

Contact your local department on aging. They have a full listing of all Assisted Livings in your area. AL's are ranked by the State.

Morningside House is a State Level 3 facilty (the highest ranking one can get.) They are also affiliated with Johns Hopkins University.

Not all Assisted Livings cost as much. There are even small group homes with 6-10 residents sharing a house.

Don't give up hope. There is help out there for ya. :huggy:

That sounds like a good use for an investment property. If only there wasn't so much red tape I would consider buying a house, staffing it and doing that.

My grandmother's place has an opening. I'm chatting with Rdkarob now. I've been through the maze. By the way Kain, my grandmother finally got the $550 per month assitance from the State. She's been on the waiting list for TWO years. :yahoo:
