Because I am dying to get the new iphone.. I was curious as to what AT&T signal is like in So. MD. I stay in the LP, Great Mills, Valley Lee area. I do travel a lot to PA, VA, NC, DE, and OH if you have any experience in those areas please share!

I have had att for over a decade. The coverage is excellent. I have traveled to all the states you listed except for OHIO and actually several more, FL, GA, NM, IL, NY, NJ, CO, KS even Jamaica and I have always had excellent signals. Only WV has ever given me the tiniest bit of problem.

When I was in the Reserves, we would travel all over and go to remote places, and still have to communicate with each, i.e. use our cell phones. In almost every case, Verizon Phones were the last to go out of coverage and NOT get a signal. Its NOT just hype, it really does seem Verizon does have the best coverage nation wide.

BUT, if AT&T covers you just fine where you will be using it, then that might NOT be as much of a factor.

I'm fairly dissastified with Verizon's high prices and their policies, like disabling built in features of the phone, and charging you a monthly fee to turn it on and then its usually a Verizon version of that feature. The high monthly fees for data plans, and NOT allowing you to get certain phones unless you add a data plan to your package, which this last year, verizon has moved just about all their phones to the catagory of having to pay extra for a data plan to be allowed to upgrade to the phone.

NOT sure if AT&T and others are as bad as Verizon in those respects, might want to compare them all before deciding, because IMO Verizon has some drawbacks even if they have the best coverage, I just don't know if the others are the same as well.

I had AT&T for over a decade too and travelled extensively for work, all over the country. Never had an issue with coverage until I moved into this house. Nobody with AT&T can get a signal on my property. It works fine in the street though. It's been fine everywhere else around somd I've been to. It's just my particular house. :cds: :killingme

I should point out about my statement, that in my experience with the Reserves we showed Verizon had far better coverage, this was remote areas where we were seeing the loss of coverage. Going into the field, off road, into the mountains.

So, although I'll maintain Verizon does have more coverage than the others, I will also fully admit that in many cases it may be more coverage then you need and would likely be served just as well with AT&T or others.

If you're an outdoorsman, hunting, fishing, hiking, etc; then Verizon may be an advantage for you.

Well I went ahead and switched. I had a great experience with AT&T's customer service which was a plus against Verizon. My phone bill is cheaper and so far I've had great coverage. I even was able to hold a phone call thru the 4-way stop in Clements! Which is a miracle I think!

Thanks everyone for your responses

too late, but...

I switched to ATT in 2003 and I never have problems with coverage.

I'm in charge of cell phones for my employer and their customer service is tops.

(used to work at Sprint, and ATT beats 'em!!!)
