AT&T wireless and Cingular suck

I have had AT&T for almost 2 years and the coverage has been decent, but the customer service blows, seriously. you'll spend hours on the phone only to hear they won't help you with any of your problems.

I'll be making the switch very soon.

Cingular just bought out AT&T wireless so I'm sure things will change. AT&T employees have known for almost a year that they were being bought out and a lot of them feared losing their jobs so you know how they may have had a crappy attitude. Give it a chance and see if there is a difference in the next few months since they are now the largest cell phone service.

What kind of customer service do you need with a cellular phone company? I've had Verizon for probably 10 years, and I don't recall calling them for anything.

For one, I ordered my first package through Cellular One (now Cingular) in 2000. I did everything over the phone and was told I would have my phone in 2 days. Two weeks later, I'm driving to the UPS shipping warehouse because they can't seem to navigate a map. You can only imagine the amount of time I wasted in those two weeks.

Second, I went through a period of about 6-8 months where my bill was erroneous EACH month. Again, you can only imagine the amount of time I wasted trying to get my account fixed.

Third, I've purchased 2 phones in the last 1.5 years that both had to be taken back because they were faulty. Is that Cingular's fault? Probably not as they were Motorola phones, but still.

All-in-all, I wouldn't recommend them. :ohwell:

That is why you get NOKIA phones!! I have never ever had a problem with any of the nokia phones I have had. Now as for the other brand phones, another story within itself!

I had a Nokia for about 2 years before the battery started sliding away from the case. I really liked that phone, but needed a new one anyhow so it was a good thing! I'm all about flip-phones now.

I have NEXTEL and their coverage area sucks and it's expensive. I like the two-way (walkie talkie feature) but it only works in limited areas in St. Mary's County.

It's no cheap date either. Their plans are expensive.

I've at AT&T for many years and have nothing but good things to say. Their people have been very helpful over the phone the many times I have spoken to either order new phones, downgrade service, etc. I have never had an issure with coverage and I love my Sony Ericson phone. Works great in the US and overseas. Love that family can call my us cell number and get me overseas. I am concerned about what will happen when my contract is up and how much more it will cost me with Cingular.

As for Verizon - you can not pay me enough to go with them. Had them when the were Bell Atlantic wireless and they stunk big time. They are still trying to collect on an expired, paid in full contract that was cancelled over 8 years ago. Everytime they call I have to pull out the paperwork and explain everything all over again.
