I went this time last year for the 2007 Pokerstars Carribbean Adventure. The hotel is awesome, but there are older parts (towers) that are older than others so of course the new section is much nicer. This was my 1st time out of the USA so I was pretty blown away. When I was there last year the dolphin cove was being built so we had to take a boat to get to a seperate little island (cove) to swim and have hands on encounters with the dolphins, WHICH WAS AMAZING!!!! There is alot to do at Atlantis and they also can book things for you such as scuba diving and such. The food in the resort is very pricey! Go out to the little local stores and buy sodas and water. If I remember correctly, a soda was like $3 for a 12 oz. can, but I went to this little shop right outside of Atlantis that I think was called the Peace Pipe and got sodas for a $1 a 12oz. can. I also packed snacks and water in my suitcase. It is a really beautiful place and the Bahamian people are so helpful and polite. If you decide on going their for your honeymoon, I am sure that you will not regret it. Oh, they offer massages and all right by the water! That is to die for!!! What an awesome experience! Good luck and Best Wishes!!!
Someone did tell me not to leave Atlantis because it's rough.
Anyone have experience with this?
I think that you should do like we did, ask the taxi driver that takes you from the airport to Atlantis where you should go and where you shouldn't. I personally would not be checking out other places at night, but during the day I enjoyed going other places such as the Straw Market which is where I got a really awesome sculpture carved out of piece of wood. You can actually stand their and watch the men take a log and turn it into really cool things like a pelican, fish, iguana (which is what I got),etc. I went to Atlantis with my 3 month old and I had an awesome time! I have pics if you would like me to share them with you. I actually caught a rainbow out of my hotel room balcony one day.
