How to Avoid Latest ATM Scam | NBC Washington

D.C. Police are warning local residents about a new ATM scam. We've left out some of the details on purpose, but police said thieves, who usually work in pairs, will place a trap on the ATM to capture the next user's card.

Pretty ingenious for someone low enough to be a thief. At least the victim doesn't get beat up, stabbed or shot.

Shoot I knew a kid that could tape string to a dollar bill and pull it back out of the soda machine and still get change for the dollar and the soda! Nothing surprises me these days but I think I would be figuring the machine must be broke if it's got something that obvious hanging out of it, there is no way I would bother to put my card in it. :shrug:

Yikes..I wonder how this works? I imagine those machines are pretty fool-proof, so it's gotta take a little brains to pull off something like this.
