My son received a text message today regarding a person known as "Ducky" will be bringing a gun to Chopticon on Monday 5/7. The county police have been alerted.

I received a message from Chopticon saying it was just a rumor, but it was thoroughly investigated and that we should encourage our children to talk to a trusted adult when hearing these rumors so that appropriate action can be taken. The child in question was not in school today, and the family was contacted.

This sounds like a copycat of the LaPlata incident the other day. I think someone doesn't want to take a test or just wants to shake things up a bit.

My son has been IMing back and forth with a bunch of his friends, some have heard about this and some have not, none believe it will happen. My husband said he heard on the news that it was not only Chopticon that had this threat, but other schools as well. I feel that if it has made news and a lot of people have heard about it, there must be something to it. All I can say is kids should be alert, if they don't feel comfortable going to school Monday, then don't. I'd rather them be safe than sorry. The VA Tech student didn't give any warning and there were no alerts before it happened, so I'm thinking this is a scare just to cause chaos at the school.
