Atv shifter

Whats is the thing called that the shifter leaver clamps to, I have a honda 400 ex and when I got it the guys welded the shifter on, well it fell off I got a new one now , the rod I guess you could call it that the shifter is hooked to is not long enough, by like 3/16 or so, the shifter pivots, if anyone could help me out that would be great.

The shift lever attaches to the shift shaft that sticks out of the side of the motor...It is a small shaft with groves in it and it has a ring like indentation so the bolt on the shifter can rest in that groove...I have attached 2 diagrams...One is the actual shifter and the other is the shift shaft that the shifter attaches too....
