I need to find a place to buy automotive paint and whatnot from. I'd buy it online, but I can't even find a place that sells a freaking fan-deck; so, I know I'm going to have go to a real store :cringe: Any suggestions? Needs to be open on Fridays and Saturdays, and preferably close at at least 16:00.

First off you need to know what you are doing or it will cost you twice as much in materials as it would to pay a pro to it . :spank:

Just because someone makes paint doesn't mean its not junk but to answer your question Mattos 301-932-8233
Their Nasons line is cost effective...Pm me if you have any questions.

By the way what the H is a fan deck? Perhaps you are using the wrong terminology and thats why you can't find one

:duh: Time and money aren't a problem when its something I plan to do. I'm a "jack of all trades" so to speak. I learn quickly, know how to do quite a few trades well enough to get by and get done what I need to, but I don't take the time to master any one thing. Its just the way I am. If I wasn't as good as I am at figuring out how to do things, I wouldn't like to do it. I also figure things out for a living.

Why can't people like you just offer the info requested, without acting like an assumptuous fool? Who said I was painting a car anyway?

And where in blue h*** did that first fragment come from?

Thanks for the suggestion on Mattos, but I already know of them and had planned on stopping there today. Unfortunately, they close at 13:00 on Saturdays, its an hour away from me and getting me to move before noon on a non-work day takes an act of God.

I was actually hoping they carried PPG- preferably the "Enviro" line. Otherwise, I'll pick up the closest thing.

A "fan deck" operates similar to a feeler gauge in that it "fans out" and fits in your pocket. Each blade has a color on it in different shades. Bodyshops use them to figure out what mix ratio of what colors are needed to match the car's color. Green today, looks different than the same exact mix will 10 years from now, no matter how much you buff out the oxidation- paint fades, and not all cars built the same day look identicle after 10 years.

it's called a color deck not a fan deck .
PpG is sold by Herrington's you look it up know it all

If you are not painting it and someone that knows how is ,wouldn't they know where to buy Paint? Or at least know how to look for it ?

Didn't this thread say auto paint.

I spend $10,000 a month at Mattos I wonder what I do

So if you stop telling me what you think you know ,which isn't much.

I might be more inclined to help you.

Notice the word in red,,Which apply's that money is a problem.

Online Meaning >>Shipping of hazardous materials>> nope not saving anything there.

Buying Materials that you only use a few onces out of a gallon container.
is why I made the statement of paying someone else to do it.
You will end up with about $200 of un used materials when said and done.

The world just loves a know it all..Jack of all trades master of none..

What's the point its not cost effective,Just take what you got to paint and pay a pro.....:twitch:

Spend a dollar to save a dime is not what I call bright...
Do you have proper respiratory equipment to deal with toxic chemicals? :spank:

auto paint

The place on Great Mills Road next to McKay's can get just about any type paint you need. I have a buddy who told me about them when we were looking for paint to paint hi-intensity bulbs for lighting systems. Talk to Donna there, she will do ya good.

Thanks for the correction, though I have seen it called the other.

Quit assuming. I'm looking for a urethane based paint. I figured it'd be easier to get an answer calling it by its most popular application.

Online, you can be anything you want. Judging from your posts in this thread and others, I'll treat everything you say as questionable.

Don't be a jack*** and I won't return the favor. I didn't say I knew everything, just enough to head in the direction I care to- I'll figure out the rest when it comes time.

I appreciate your willingness to help, but I'm not kissing your butt to get it. Nor am I going to give you more reason to act more arrogant than you already are.

When will you learn to quit making stupid, idiotic, arrogant assumptions? I hate going in stores because I hate dealing with people. It has nothing to do with cost.

I'll find something to use it for. Its more about learning to do what I want, than it is about cost.

This statement isn't even worth it. I think I just lost a few brain cells reading this.

To learn. To f*** up, learn from doing so and enjoy it; obviously this, in conjunction with reasoning and writing skills, is beyond you. I hate being redundant, than again, you hate comprehending what it is that I wrote.

:banghead: Thank you. Anyone that has read your posts in this thread is now dumber. Your posts have proven to be more effective at dropping IQ points than daytime television.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll look into it.

Matto's will have everything you might need but as someone previously said, you better know what you want. I used to deal at the one in Silver Spring and those guys lived and breathed (not literally) paint and had all the latest knowledge. That didn't appear to be the case in Waldorf. Good luck. This may sound a little corny but painting can be very rewarding. You might even get up in the middle of the night just to peek in the garage and admire it.
