I read your post, but it sounded like you didn't watch your demo.

I think the point of the demo is that, even if you don't understand Photoshop, you can still do this specific thing. I have not watched the demo, so I don't know what they did, but Photoshop is not on some magical higher plain, so you can find many of the same commands/features in other programs, just maybe not as extensive as Photoshop has them.
