My friend came home to a deer in his yard that wont leave, mom must have got hit by a car. He said it looks healthy otherwise. What do you suggest he do?

Ignore it and let it figure things out on its on?
Call a rehab place?

We dunno what to do about it.

Thanks

It's now 8 hours since you posted this, the deer should be gone. Does will leave their older young by themselves for short periods so leave it alone. If it's still there now, 7AM, call DNR.

That's good eatin right there!

You best wait until they become adults; not much meat. About two months ago, our next door neighbor's dog was barking incessantly (they weren't home), so hub went out to find the dog had cornered a baby deer in their yard. The deer was frantic. When my hub approached, the deer literally came to him, and then ran to the next yard and collapsed; hub thought it had heart attack, and went over and the sweet thing actually let my hub pet him, and then looked at him like thank you, and then ran off. My hub has gone on two week horseback excursions in CO to hunt elk, and said, he never had such a wonderful, close encounter with an animal as he did with this baby deer. Very touching; wanted to share. Thanks, Val, for letting me share your space. :buddies:
