Any groomer recommendations? I usually take her to All Kinds but their groomer is booked until July. :faint:

I'd actually like to have her shaved for the summer. My question is, do they sedate the cat or how does that work? I don't really want to traumatize her any more than necessary.

Three Notch Vet has a grooming service or PetCo.

I have a friend that is awesome at dog and cat grooming. Her name is Sharon Hatcher and she will actually come to you. Her number is 301-399-1207.

What kind of prices does she have? I may have to refer back to this thread, my kittens still aren't a year old and may need it in the future - I take Nacho for walks in the yard and his fur heats up like a thermal. The other guy is terrified of the noises out there :ohwell:

you better be careful lucky that nacho doesn't bolt out the door since you take him out for walks he might think oh the door is open i can go and play. I had one I did that with and every chance he got he went out the front door and i had to go after him.

Oh trust me, I know. They all want to see what's out there. He's only gotten out a few times, and is never hard to catch. He gets to the grass and crouches for a pounce or rolls around in it.

Molly is 13 yrs old, and hasn't been grooming herself as she should. She gets big ole knots of fur, particularly on her hips. I've been having her shaved for the last 4 years at Three Notch Gooming in Hollywood.

As the girls have explained it to me, first they trim those blades she has for claws. Then they shave her in stages, putting her back in her crate to calm down between bursts of flying fur. I believe the bath comes after the shaving. I am SOOOOOO glad I'm not there for any of this, I'm sure there is some wailing going on.

Not counting that cute little bow on her head and matching scarf around her neck, she's a bad looking thing once it's complete. She's be horrified if she could see that poofy little tummy hanging down!

But, she doesn't come out of there traumatized (despite the fact that she does have neurotic tendencies), and she seems much happier with those knots of fur gone. And we have a great few months play fighting with her while those claws are short!

My poor norwegian forrest cat has been a little neglected lately :( with the move and getting ready for the the baby and repairs to the house..he has been hiding in the basement a lot. When I was petting him the other day I realized he has a hellish amount of knots ALL across his chest :cds: (he is an incredibly hairry creature) and I wanted to get them cut out/maybe him shaved..but I don't want him to look dumb, hes such a handsome kitty..but has two coats of fur:cds:

where should I take him, poor guy needs those knots out, I can't leave him like that..

they are so close to his skin, though...im kinda afraid I will hurt him :/

libertytranny the lady i go to is good at getting them taken care of. my dog has had many that were close to the skin and she got them without hurting the dog. if u aren't careful the cat could end up with skin infections from being matted up.
