What do you get them? I hate parents that buy their kid everything under the sun so birthdays become this major PITA.

He has two roomsful of toys, closets full of clothes that he'll never wear, furniture out the yang - he doesn't need a single thing. You can't even pre-buy anything for him, like a tricycle or something he could use when he was older because his parents have bought everything he'll ever need until he's 18 years old.

What's your relation? Start a bank account, savings bond, some collectible (easier for girls...Precious Moments, etc.)... If it's a family member or somebody you will stay in contact with as the child grows up, you can add to this each year and special occasion.

Nephew. The savings bond is a good idea. Or maybe I could start a stock portfolio for him that reinvests the dividends, then he'd have a hunk o' cash by the time he graduates.

That's a good idea, too. Something that you could add to every year, and maybe at Christmas, moving to middle/high school or whatever special occasions you'd want to recognize.

Stock in something? My brothers God-Father bought him his first stock and gave it to Mom & Dad at his Baptismal. He now gets more every birthday! :yay:

my youngest turns one on June 8th, the wife and I have some baby einstein videos for him and a new elmo table that plays music and sings about numbers and body parts. He really does have everything he needs thanks to big brother who will be 3 in July.

Ahhh, keep it simple. A Derringer pistol - small yet powerful enough to really stop the heffalumps! :lmao:

The most irritating noise making battery powered toy I can find and extra batteries too.
Drums, maracas, and tambourines have the same effect.

Or pick whatever toy that is secured in its packaging by the most wires and further secure it by adding about 10 or 15 plastic zip ties to it.

Something for the future. The bond thing is a good idea. We have a large family and both kids got so many toys for Christmas that there are still several that haven't even been taken out of the package.
