How much do you pay your sitter? I have twin two and a half year olds. What should I expect to pay for a Friday night?

I pay $60.00 for a night, and I have a three year old. The sitter is also trained in CPR and childcare. I'm not sure if that's the going rate or not, you may want to check care.com, I think a lot of the teachers at my sons daycare advertise on there so it may be a good way to check pricing? good luck !!

I have a self sufficient 8 year old that I pay $5 an hour to watch. My son's girlfriend does private sitting for one 3 year old and makes $20 an hour (she sits for him about 30 hours a week) :faint:

I'd ask the sitter what they charge and go from there. If it's $10 an hour for two and you know you will be out 5 hours you are looking at $50 bucks for the evening. Good luck, hope you have a good time. Twins......... whew keep ya busy!!!

Who in the hell would pay $20 per hour for someone to watch ONE kid. That's $600 per week. I find that VERY hard to believe.

I just hopped on care.com, and if you put in babysitter or caregiver, there were quite a few that were $20.00 per hour. I think most were around $15.00 though. I pay mine for the night so hours don't come into play, we're not on a timeclock that way.

I can see that MAYBE in the city and on a weekend night, but not locally and not for 30 hours.

A lawyer and his wife who owns her own business and runs it from their house in Montgomery County (Columbia to be exact). I thought it sounded too good to be true, but it is!!! She's been doing this since before x-mas as her only job now since getting laid off in the fall.

Oh no, not on a regular basis I wouldn't pay that... not like normal daily sitter. But, yes, on the weekend nights we go out, I guess it is about that.

Does she do it in their house or hers?

Their house. Once a week they go on an educational "field trip". They have been to all kinds of neat places. The parents still pay the $20 per hour plus gas expenses, whatever the trip costs and if it involves a meal time, they pick up the tab for the two of them to enjoy lunch out as well. It's a sweet deal.

She does sit one evening a week which sometimes is a Friday or Saturday evening. If she doesn't sit during the week in the evening, sometimes they'll have her watch him during the weekend day on Saturday so they can have their adult time.

$600 tax free certainly is a sweet deal, especially being that young. Her and your son must be living the high life.

They live in Montgomerg County. They pay $1850 in rent for a two bedroom apartment. I wouldn't say it's the high life, but it certainly does help pay the bills! And it's tax free, so my son will claim her on his taxes this year. Down fall, no insurance..................

Wow. She's an adult, they are not married, AND he can claim her on her taxes while she's making $600 per week? ####. I'm completely doing this working my ass of thing all wrong.

Meeeeeeeee too.

Hell, she has a college degree with 1 major and 2 minors and couldn't get a "real job". At least this helps pay the college loans.

I'm surprised that the lawyer does not fork out for licensed care that they can claim on their taxes. It would be less expensive.

I thought the same thing. But I guess money is no issue for them. I think he makes $500 an hour. 20 bucks in a drop in the bucket for him and that doesn't include what his wife makes at business.
