Babysitters

Anyone ever find themselves with 2 babysitter contacts and still none for the one night you need them!?! Has anyone used Sittercity: Find Babysitters, Nannies, Pet Sitters, House Sitters, Senior Care, Tutors and More Or where did you find your babysitter? I need suggestions, and I won't leave my kids with just anyone, they need to be at least 17 and be certified or have references, or want to moonlight from a daycare....

Thoughts?

Call a daycare close to you or your local high school and ask for the child development teacher. They may have a list of interested persons you could interview??

I don't think I'd use an online service... to impersonal.

how about another mom, your children know? Someone who has children who will play with yours is a good place to start. I do mom swaps, other moms watch my kids, in exchange if I needthe same, I can call/email/IM and set it up. (field trips where the youngest can't go) that kind of thing...

Church, little league sidelines, PTA moms,

I work at a gym in the child care, the younger girls (HS and early college years) will babysit on the side for some of the clients.

I have considered other moms, but the ones I know well, either participate in the dance stuff or are pregnant. I need to expand my circle of friends I guess.
