Since several of the ladies in this Bible Study group are snowbirds [meaning they come south for the warm weather and then go back in the spring], we are doubling up the lessons every week so we can get through the book before they have to leave. We didn't have Bible Study last week because of Thanksgiving.... so we are chomping at the bit to get back into it today.
People are like grass and flowers. That's quite a concept out here in the desert of Arizona. I googled it and the first thing I noticed was it takes a certain kind of grass. Now all grass will grow here with the proper care but some are more suitable. Likewise, everyone can become a follower of Christ but some, in particular, are more likely to be chosen [take the eye of the needle comment Jesus made].
Likewise, the flowers are different out here. I googled that as well. Flowers here have to be tolerant of the heat and dry. Flowers out here have to search constantly for water sources. Even when they find a rich water supply, if they don't tap in then their chance of survival diminishes. Even when all the environmental impacts are perfect, the flowers only last a little while. Great flowers will produce fruits or seeds so the plant's survival is guaranteed.
You remember how 911 was the topic of discussion for like forever? What about that Beltway Sniper? Do you remember how we thought no one would ever forget it? These are events that changed the way we thought about life. Now there are people who don't remember it at all.... see people are like grass and flowers.... they come and go unless they are cared for....
We need to love one another.... we need to be a source....
