I can't quite grasp why Russians tolerate this, unless there's some kind of societal acceptance of people who remain in power.
SOME kind of acceptance of a powerful leader who remains in power because people fear challenging him.

But Putin has been in power for twenty years - either as Prime Minster - twice - and for four years from 2008-12, when Medvedev was "President" (otherwise known as "keeping the seat warm" for Putin). Only Stalin was in power effectively, for longer. And if this goes through, Putin will beat THAT. It's always a sad commentary on a nation that leaders only lose power if they DIE.

It's what the Democrats want for America.
It's what we have in Congress. Hoyer and Pelosi---the only way they will leave is when they carry them out on a stretcher.

Yes. It's essentially a cultural imperative reinforced by history, social class structure, theology, and geography. To a Russian "The Center" is much more than a description of Moscow.

Be it "Tsar," "President," or something else вождь (vozhd') means much, much more than "leader" and remains an essential aspect of Russian society.

I suppose the Russians are more or less used to this kind of crap.

God bless the USA
Pretty much what most of the US DoJ when they decided for the umpteenth time to not prosecute Hillz.

Hub and I were talking about the whole Russian thing, today. We decided the Russians are laughing at US. They didn’t have to do much to get the blame. They just sit back and laugh. What about the Uranium deal, or Obama saying he would have more leverage, or, recently, Putin saying he, basically, wants full control of his country. Scary times, indeed; otherwise, it would be funny.

Uranium deal, that one STILL pisses me off. When he was in office he got a ton of bucks from the Chinese, later she got it from the Russians. Talk about traitors that should be hung......

And half of the voters of America voted for her and would do so again.
If that doesn't frost your balls nothing will.
WTH is wrong with these people? They all can't be stupid.

The best economy in years , low unemployment, Trade deals with China and Mexico slowing down illegals, working to have peace with N. Korea, working to stop Nuclear proliferation with Iran, and these socksuckers impeach him. Make yo wonder WTH is wrong with these people.

Russians tolerate it for the same reason we Americans tolerate our corrupt iron-fisted government - humans want to be ruled. Herded, like sheep. They don't want to make any decisions. They want to bitch and whine a lot, but they don't want to do anything about it.

It's always a sad commentary on a nation that leaders only lose power if they DIE.

Kind of like our Congresstards for life, eh? If Presidents weren't term-limited I have no doubt we would re-elect the same one until he died. Look at all the kids clamoring for Socialism. It's kind of a miracle that we've managed to hang onto our republic for this long.
