Back Up question

I'm not computer literate.... I have a question that I cannot understand.... and probably won't even ask correctly....

I will be comparing one system that has one back up tape to a proposed system that has Remote tape backup with 8 cartridges per magazine....

The number of computers in the offices are about the same... the use is about the same.... I don't understand why it might be necessary for one system to use one back up tape that is switched out in the morning... and the other system to require a remote tape backup with 8 cartridge per magazine.... I want to make an informed and fair decision....

Could someone give me an idea?

From what I am reading they are getting a BE SBS STD 11D BNDL EXP BAND S & SYMC BACKUP EXEC 11D WIN SERVERS MEDIA KIT ML & BE AWS 11D AGT FOR SYS BNDL EXP

Does that tell you anything? Like I said I'm not computer literate...

I'm going to compare the system they are proposing with the system they just bought where I work but I think they are two different monsters....

What would you need a system with a remote backup 8 tape magazine for?
