Backing up Karaoke Cd's

I am trying to back up some karaoke cds that i have purchased. My parents decided to get my 8 year old daughter a karaoke machine for her birthday, and I don't want to give her the master cds. Can anyone give me advice as to if I need a dvd burner or if a regular cd burner on the computer will work. Also, I have tried looking some other places on the net, and they are suggesting a few different programs. i am just wondering why you can't rip and burn them just like you would back up a normal cd.

Any help anyone has would be great. I just need to know what is properly needed before i start. Thanks

"The Karaoke CD+Graphics disc format is different than audio and all other optical disc formats. The graphics and lyrics that highlight to the music are stored on the disc in an area that is not error corrected when read back from the disc." MTU.com

What this means is Karaoke disks use an extra track for the words. Not all CD recorders will record this track. There are many programs out there that claim to be able to record Karaoke, usually the music is fine but the words become garbled (look like confetti on the screen)
I have used this program with success Microstudio Karaoke CDG Player/Customize Discs / karaoke machine player software but also use a Plextor burner which is compatable with the extra track. Go ahead and let your daughter use the original disks, for the most part they're pretty cheap anyways (under $10 for most at WalMart) Another good source is KARAOKE.COM: Music, Songs, Machines, Players, and CDs check out their sales. They also have an outlet store in Baltimore.
Oh yea, I've been doing this for about 5 years, hence the knowledge.
