Good news, BadGirl and other bacon lovers out there!

Believe your eyes: Oscar Mayer is now offering a bacon hot dog. It's as if they read the minds of bacon lovers everywhere: Oscar Mayer on Monday introduced five new hot dogs, one of which has bacon cooked right into it.

"No one knows bacon like Oscar Mayer," Jared Baker, director of Oscar Mayer hot dogs, said in a statement. "We know Americans love bacon, and we know they love hot dogs, so it seemed like the perfect time for us to introduce our first hot dog made with bacon."

"It is hitting store shelves this week in time for Memorial Day," Sydney S. Lindner, associate director of corporate affairs at Kraft Foods, told Yahoo! Shine on Tuesday. They will be available throughout the United States.

I don't care for hot dogs in general, so I don't think adding bacon would help much in my case.

I was at Food Lion the other day and noticed Rapa now has Bacon Scrapple:

Rapa Scrapple

Ingredients

Pork Stock, Bacon (Cured with Water, Salt, Sugar, Sodium Phosphate, Sodium Ascorbate and/or Sodium Erythorbate, Sodium Nitrite) Pork Skins, Corn Meal, Wheat Flour, Pork Snouts, Pork Livers, Pork Hearts, Salt, Spices, Monosodium Glutamate

:yum: I'd try it but I have a bad reaction to MSG. :ohwell:

I love bacon and I love hotdogs but I suspect this concoction will be like cheddardogs, where it's goobery and disgusting, tasting nothing like either cheddar or hot dogs and certainly not like the cheesedogs you make from scratch.

I love fat as much as the next person but let's get real.

Wrap a piece of bacon around a hotdog and throw it in the oven. Bacon dog. Everything is better with bacon.

That is just plain stupid. That takes away the whole point of bacon on a hot dog.

Not for true bacon lovers....double the bacon! :jet:

J/K!

And for bacon lovers, that Hormel pre-cooked bacon in the pack for microwave turns out great. If you need bacon quick for a burger, throw it in the microwave for 3 min and viola, you got bacon for your burger or whatever.

i prefer the Oscar Meyer version, seem to be a little less greasy.

Did you try them yet?

No response. MSG reaction? Somebody check on her?

Yes, I did tonight - peanut butter and bacon sammich. :yum: And very happily, no problems and the bacon was absolutely delicious! :yahoo:

And why this is a big thing for me. I don't eat bacon often, but Food Lion had a BOGO free deal on bacon, so I fried up a pound of it for BLT's, then wound up having a headache for days, which exactly lined up with the days I had the nitrate-infused bacon. Once I deep-sixed the bacon, my headache went away. :yay:

And I am very glad that many people don't have a problem with nitrates or MSG, but they are triggers for headaches and reactions with me. Some food for thought:

I threw some of these delicous bacon dogs in the fry daddy tonight and all I can say is yum yum yum !

After deep frying them in some peanut oil until they turn a nice golden brown, throw them on a hot dog bun with some extra mayo and sprinkle some fresh bacon bits on top of some melted chedar cheese. Anyone been to heaven? I have and it tasted great!
