Balloons

story
You know how kids cry when their balloon gets away and goes soaring off into the sunset? Well, it looks like the Mom and Dad will be crying right along with them now. Another reason to be packing an airgun.
The version that passed yesterday could bring a $250 fine for even a single balloon let loose. A second offense could bring a $500 fine. The bill specifically exempts hot air balloons, weather balloons and others released as part of scientific research.

Am I the only one envisioning little kids with blue hands because the parents tied a balloon string too tightly to the wrist?

I remember as a class project we placed messages inside balloons to contact us at the school and let us know how far our balloon traveled. :ohwell:

What is a childhood without at least 1 balloon release out the car window.

That's where proper adult supervision comes in to play.

What about the sporting events that let thousands of balloons loose?? Is that going to end or is it OK cause they donated money to the local politicians??

I remember something similar from kindergarten; it was a massive failure. Our school was right next to Amtrak's northeast corridor tracks. 90% of the balloons stuck on their high voltage lines! :killingme I suppose that somebody should have paid attention to wind direction.

They say:

By a vote of 215 to 111, the House approved a bill that treats balloon releases as a form of littering.

HB 62 originally barred the release of two dozen or more lighter-than-air balloons.

OK, from now on I'm going to fart in all the balloons I give to kids. This will be a scientific experiment to see just how far farts can travel. Anything to further science cannot be viewed/smelled as a negative. :lmao:

"Do we now get balloon police?" Rep. Randolph Holden, R-Goffstown, asked.

I get worn out with all this environmental touchy-feely PC crap. How are they going to tell an accidental release from an intentional one? My kids used to intentionally let go of their balloons to see them float away all the time.

Just don't release your balloons in New Hampshire and you won't have a problem.

How will they prove it was MY balloon? Where is the evidence that I littered. Will the police shoot down my balloon and take fingerprints? So many unanswered questions.
