BALTIMORE, MD (March 14, 2023) – Attorney General Anthony G. Brown today announced that Tyree Holmes, 25, of Baltimore, pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm with a nexus to drug trafficking. The Honorable Judge Lawrence Daniels sentenced Holmes to five years of incarceration without the possibility of parole.
On February 9, 2020, officers with the Baltimore Police Department arrested Holmes, who fled after being seen participating in an apparent drug deal in the 1900 block of Hollins Avenue in Southwest Baltimore. During the pursuit, Holmes dropped a loaded handgun. Holmes then ran into the nearby Grace Medical Center, where he was apprehended by police and found to be carrying seventeen gelatin capsules of fentanyl and twenty-five flip top jugs of cocaine.
In making today’s announcement, Attorney General Brown thanked Criminal Investigations and Prosecutions Chief Katie Dorian, and Assistant Attorneys General Zachary Norfolk and David Wiseman, who prosecuted the case. The Attorney General also thanked Baltimore City Police Commissioner Michael S. Harrison and Maryland State Police Acting Superintendent Roland Butler for their partnership in this investigation. Attorney General Brown also thanked State’s Attorney for Baltimore City Ivan Bates.
