I'll be taking a mini vaca next month to Baltimore. Wondered if any one had any good restaurants or fun things to do while we're there.

I'm sure there are those that will say you need to go to the Inner Harbor. That place has lost a lot of it's appeal. The boat and lightship tours are fun if you've never done them and have kids, but once you've seen it..... The aquarium still holds my interest, but is pricey. Lots of panhandlers everywhere.

"Taney" was the last of four ships on which my grandpappy was the skipper. She's in very bad shape now..they keep closing off more areas for safety reasons. I'm afraid she'll be headed to scrap before too many more years. ;-(

But the "Constellation", "Taney", and "Torsk" are definitely worth the cost of the tours. The rest of Inner Harbor sure has gone downhill.

No kidding? That's pretty cool.

I had a ton of cool pictures and ship memorabilia, including the silver "cigarette service set" that his crew gave him when his command was up. Lost almost all of that when the house went up. I do have a nice aerial photograph of her departing Alameda and headed out on Bering Sea patrol. It was (still is) in my office.

Sad part is, I donated (lent, really...but I'll never ask for it back) all of the pictures, ship log copy, and other memorabilia that I had from his earlier anti-submarine ship command ("Dione", 1942), to the Graveyard of the Atlantic museum in Hatteras. I was going to donate most of the "Taney" stuff to the Taney Foundation and just hadn't gotten around to it....before it was all lost. ;-(

But again...the "Taney" is still fun to tour at her berth in the inner harbor..and cheap to tour.

Isabella's in Little Italy has amazing pizza and subs and it's old school charming. Not fancy, just a pizza joint with super good food.

You, because you cook and appreciate food, should hit up Lexington Market. http://lexingtonmarket.com/

This is fun. Im_Me and I did a weekend in B'more awhile back and rode the water taxi for our bar crawl and decided to hit Ft. McHenry while we were at it. Way more interesting than I thought it would be.
Agreed! Was surprisingly impressed with the experience.

I had seen that place and was thinking about going there but I saw some recent reviews on a travel site that said its gone down hill. That it was a mix of homeless and thugs.

I mean Baltimore isn't the best place anyways so I kinda know what to expect but wasn't sure if it really is a gangstas paradise LOL

I went all by myself to chaps pit beef (which OMG the reviews don't lie its absolutely ahhhmazing) and that was in a really really freakin sketchy area.

Oh cool this might be fun and something the kids would like to do also.

Big B wanted to hit a couple breweries when we were there did you guys happen to check any of those out?

I'm a huge fan of Brewer's Art. Their beer is excellent and so is their food.... http://www.thebrewersart.com/#!/page_home

Have you ever taken the kids to The Science Center in Inner Harbor? Might be crazy in there on the weekend though, like the aquarium.

The area is definitely ghetto, so it doesn't surprise me that the market has gone downhill. I just looked at TripAdvisor and the reviews are fairly consistent that it's a #### hole now. Too bad.
