Stop Staring!!!!!
Anybody have any recommendations for a Banner Ad/Pop-up removal utitility? Norton used to do it but I just installed Norton 360 and it does not appear to do it anymore.

I use the Google tool bar that comes with a nifty pop up blocker. Works great!!! Perhaps 1-2 pop-unders get thru...but that is it.

Advertising makes the world go 'round, and if you block it the terrorists win.

Yea..spoken like a true sales rep. I see ads all over the place...Like the one from Alexandar Homes...right at the top of the SOMD page..
but not intrusive pop ups....I will block them at every chance I get.

And FYI: check your security meter....terrorists have won....

You'll notice I did not say anything about banner ads, only pop-ups, which are a surfer's worst enemy.....

Pop ups do suck, which is why we don't use them. Talking ads are worse. I hate going to some site that has talking ads that auto-run.

My issue is with the laptop I use from work. DIAL-UP. I figure anything I can do to reduce the amount of download time should help.

At home I could care less. I don't look at the damned things anyway.

I'd start by downloading FireFox, but see if you can find v2. V3 has a few issues, 'specially with SoMD forums. Crashes whenever the Obama rising sun ad loads....

Do you find FireFox reasonably reliable? I have been using IE since day one and have never used anything else. Easy leaning curve? Norton 360 work well with it? I have absolutely no familiarity with it.

I've been using FireFox for years, only use IE when I absolutely have to, like for a corporate website. You can load it up and try it, it will not affect your current version of IE. When it launches for the first time, it will ask if you want it to be the default browser. If you are not sure, just click No. It will also import all of your Favorites and convert them to Bookmarks (same thing) so you have all your favorites in place on FireFox.

I don't use Norton products, so can't comment on the compatibility.

Again, tho, if you cannot find v2, you will need to change your SoMD forums view to Classic rather than Blue so it doesn't blowup....

Copy all. Looking at the website now:
Firefox web browser | Faster, more secure, & customizable

I use classic for SOMD anyway so I'll give V3 a shot.. Thanks :yay:

I keep telling these people you are good for something.
