...plain and simple.

Fla. doctor investigated in badly botched abortion : 24 Hour Breaking News : The Buffalo News

Only Renelique didn't arrive in time. According to Williams and the Florida Department of Health, she went into labor and delivered a live baby girl.

What Williams and the Health Department say happened next has shocked people on both sides of the abortion debate: One of the clinic's owners, who has no medical license, cut the infant's umbilical cord. Williams says the woman placed the baby in a plastic biohazard bag and threw it out.

Why did the mother wait until 23 weeks?!

And why did they list cause of death as "extreme prematurity?"

What has a Barbarian ever done to you that would justify you defaming them so generally?

Good point.

My apologies to the barbarians who would enslave an infant and raise him and put him to work; not butcher him. At least them, he's alive and has a chance.

On behalf of my ancestors, your apology is accepted and your mistake is acknowledged as having been made in good faith.

So when's the cut off? 5 seconds earlier, it would have been perfectly legal. So what's the difference?

I have some questions about the mother's role in these events. Clearly she was aware of what was going on, since she later described what happened. Did she have any ability to stop the clinic owner from killing the baby ( or condemning it to death by throwing it out)? Or, did she still want the baby killed at that time?

A week later the police found the baby's body after receiving anonymous tips. Did those come from her or from someone at the clinic or from someone else entirely? And, after the police found out about the situation she was upset enough to eventually file suit, but she wasn't upset enough in the interim to contact the police herself? Was she just upset because she saw an opportunity to make some money? Was she just upset in order to hide the fact that she was complicit in the killing? Or, was she genuinely upset and just didn't know what to do until after the police got involved?

If things happened as they are alleged to have, then the actions of the clinic owner are sufficiently heinous as to not require further comment. I'm just not so sure that the mother is a genuine victim in this situation. It is hard to judge someone's actions if you don't have all of the details, but at this point, things don't quite add up to me.
