Bartending

Has confinement issues..
Hughesville American Legion just fired a couple girls. I'd rather work there than just about any place in the area.

Are you in the north or south end of the county?

You can check into memories.. their bartenders are spread very thin and they might be able to use a weekend bartender if your are experienced

Times are tough at bars right now. You might want to look into something else.

:yeahthat: My friend bartends (at a restaurant) and she says that there are many nights that she should've just stayed home. She's not making nearly as much as she used to, due to people being more cautious with money lately. She also told me that not only is the bar far less packed than usual, but people are tipping less than they used to (which I think is horrible).

Hubby & I have cut back on the going out to dinner/drinks a lot but when we do, we still leave a really good tip. Not everyone does, though. My friend has been bartending for many years, has a pretty large group of "regulars" and is great at what she does. Yet she's thinking of quitting because of the economy.

I have my slow nights and my busy nights. Normally I am home before 9 pm on Mondays but I didn't get out of there until after 1 this morning.

Be careful what u wish 4
I was out of my place by 10 lastnight. Business has slowed down and people are getting really tight on tipping.

Stay home and have more fun! Drinks are 10 times cheaper! I can play any music I want to and as loud as I want to. I can even play along or sing with it if I want to. I can smoke when and where I want to. I can eat anything I have available in the kitchen! I can pee, poop, pass-gas whenever, whereever I want to. AND I don't have put up with abnoxious people and especially, I don't have to drive home!

Is there any flippin reason for anyone to go to a bar anymore? Oh! Happy hour :smack: Ain't that a joke anymore. And don't tell me you go looking for women or guys... Ha! you're in the wrong region!

Believe me, I use to be a regular and love'd to go sit and socialize, pass a few down the neck with a shot here and there... but with the laws, rules and clowns... it is just not worth it anymore... [just my 2 cents]

The thing is, if you are drinking less, or spending less on your meal, snacks, drinks, then you are tipping less. It's a percentage thing.

My sentiments exactly. Stay home and "get faced." You're better off.
I still think it all stems from the State gubmint out- lawing smoking in bars.
Those owners had to make up for the drop in business somehow, huh?

I hope this makes the "transplants" happy. I've heard comments about St. Mary's being nothing but a place full of dive bars. I guess now there aren't as many; or won't be.

Yeah, that makes complete sense. To me, it's always a percentage thing with the percentage going up for really good service. Sorry if I wasn't clear in my last post.

My friend's complaint is that people have become "cheap" when tipping lately. The percentage has dropped. So someone may sit at the bar, have 6 beers and a meal and leave a $3 tip.

I haven't noticed a significant drop-off in tips

At least not individually. As a whole they're down, because there's overall fewer people, but individual people seem to tip me as per usual.
