Baseball Hearings

Let me guess

...it is not.
I'm guessing Congress is going to regulate Baseball now. :bigwhoop:

Ugh. It's up to the league to do something, not congress. Is the MLB doesn't want to do anything, let them do nothing and watch their ratings decline. Let the MLB do nothing and see the O'Reilly 200 NASCAR Truck Craftsman Truck Series race presented by Hanes and Wal-Mart and Oxi-Clean surpass the World Series in total viewers and live audience.

This is effing ridiculous. Congress has more important things to do, like close up the border and make Mr. Bush's tax cuts permanent and all the other stuff they haven't done.

Agree totally. Congress is nothing more than a herd of pompous azzwipes.

That's...

If they're busy doing this, they aren't passing "Global Warming" or ""Campaign Finance" legislation.

Anything that keeps Congress busy without actually passing a law is sometimes a good thing.

...actually a VERY good point.

NASCAR Sprint Cup Series has already surpassed Baseball and is, to remind you, the LARGEST spectator sport in America.

I wasn't talking about NASCARS numbers compared to baseball, I was talking about baseballs numbers on a yearly comparison.

American Idol is the most watched television show...and that isn't saying much for America either....:lmao:

As long as MLB has an anti-trust exemption, they should have outside oversight. Since the exemption prevents the oversight they might get from government agencies, the only thing left is congressional oversight.

I say end the exemption, and let them live under the same rules as every other sport/entertainment business.

The front offices and owners of MLB teams are just as corrupt and to blame for these problems as the players. They are so preoccupied with making money off of the sport that they neglect to deal with any problems or be unpopular with their peers because that isn't good for profits....

But as one person said, I don't really care about what athletes put in their bodies....it's a progression of generations. The golden years had the black sox, that progressed to juicing balls, corked bats, and here we are with PED's....

The only negative aspect I see is the way it alters childrens preceptions of what is right and wrong....but I will take Charles Barkley's view on this and say it isn't their jobs to be role models.
