Does anyone have experience with Bathfitters, or something similar? Our house is older (1970's) and the tub and walls are quite yucki and I was thinking about a tub to shower conversion. I have NO CLUE how much they charge for something like this. Any info is appreciated. :howdy:

It masks any underlying problems. Make sure you have no woodrot before having this done.

We're doing the same thing, but have a contractor do it. He can't find the shower enclosure we want, so he's trying NorthEastern in Ltown. Let me know what you find out and where you get your enclosure from. I can't find one I like. I think Empire does that sort of thing too.

We had Bath Fitters do our second-floor bathroom. Their people are unfamiliar with older-house construction (such as old-fashioned full-width 2X4's and cast-iron pipe plumbing) so they're gonna leave your place unfinished for a few weeks before they get back to you to finish the job. Also, they don't have any expertise in how to handle a bathroom with a window above the tub. When they do finally finish, however, the final job is excellent. $4,000 to $5,000 is the probable estimate.

If you have a local contractor do the job, I suppose that both the cost and probable result will be more negotiable. You'll have more of a final say in what they come up with.

I'm not happy at all with Bathfitters. The trim on my bathroom remodel is yellowing and they have never properly fixed a place behind the toilet where the wall covering didn't stick right. 2 years and still fighting with them.

I have Bathfitters coming to our house on Friday to give us an estimate. This should be interesting.

Do you know where they came from? I don't think their is a distributor too near to So. MD. The lady that called to set up my appointment was in Owings Mills, and she kept thinking that I was on the Eastern Shore. :howdy:
