I know Michael Keaton, Val Kilmer & Christian Bale all played Batman in the movies. But didn't George Clooney do one too?

Yes, I believe he did. Thought he was Batman in the First one..
Keaton was in the first two, "Batman" and "Batman Returns"
Kilmer replaced Keaton in "Batman Forever"
Clooney replaced Kilmer in one of the worst movies EVER made, "Batman and Robin".

In contrast, the new series rivals any movie ever made, for excellence. I'm looking forward to the next ones.

I haven't seen Batman & Robin and Batman Begins. I liked the ones that Tim Burton did with Keaton, because I think they captured the brooding vigilante nature of Batman. (Have you ever read Frank Miller's graphic novels?)

Also, I'm waiting for the Superman movie in May. I would like to see the two of them together in a movie, because the two heroes are polar opposites. The old comics had Superman and Batman as best friends, which I thought was a little hokey. In the newer comics, like Kingdom Come, they have fundamental differences in attitudes, which makes for more interesting reading. Batman doesn't believe that anyone with Superman's power can resist the temptation to become a tyrant. Superman is repelled by Batman's use of fear in fighting crime.

Rent it today. It was the first movie in years that I clapped for, afterwards.

I imagine it helps that in addition to just having Bale and Holmes - it has Morgan Freeman, Liam Neeson, Gary Oldman and Michael Caine. The new Batman isn't necessarily a 'good guy' - he spends an enormous part of his adult life basically living like a crook, out of guilt and anger. Like the Keaton version - he's a little messed up, and is never above using terror - in fact, it's part of his primary power. The coolest scene is - without giving too much away - when someone asks "what is that sound?" and Bale answers......"....backup". He's also not above simply KILLING the bad guys rather than apprehending them.

(Of course, the best line in the movie - albeit, a little corny - is when Oldman tells him "I never thanked you" and Bale answers "..and you'll never have to".)

GO see it.

I liked that aspect, in the animated series, "Justice League", because Batman is not a member - and is the ONLY hero in the bunch who has no 'superpowers'. He only has his wits, which makes him the BEST super-hero.

That's odd, because Batman in the comics never kills. Here is Superman from Kingdom Come (paraphrased): "More than anyone else in the world, when you strip away everything else from Batman, you're left with a person who doesn't want to see anyone die."

Well, I guess I'm spoiling something but in a crucial scene he says

"You're right, I'm not going to kill you --- but I don't have to *save* you..."

which effectively turns out the same.
