I don’t get the concept. I can get batteries from almost anywhere, does this place sell 8 packs of Duracell for $1 or something?

They also sell batteries for UPS's, alarm systems, emergency lights, lawn and farm equipment, boats, etc. When I need a SLA or other deep cycles battery, I'd much rather get it locally so I can trade in the old one for recycling and be done with it.

They can save a lot of time on oddball batteries. Went into B+ in California with a key fob on life support. They popped it open, had the weird battery in stock, put it in, and off I went. A rare dose of convenience and customer service.

My first experience with Batteries Plus was getting cordless tool batteries rebuilt. When they would no longer hold a charge, we'd take them in for rebuild. This was the older NiCad type. Some places can do Lithium rebuilds, not sure about B+. The process was much cheaper than a new battery and better cells were used.

Hoping they can program a key fob and cut the key for it at a decent price. Bought a car a couple years ago with only 1 key fob and have lived in fear of losing it with no spare. Every place I called wanted $300-$400 for new fob, key and programming, Was able to find a fob/key relatively cheap, just need the programming now and the key cut.

Have you tried a locksmith?
Yeah, mainly locksmiths that I got quotes from about a year ago. All cheaper than the stealership but still in the 3-4 hundred dollar range. Emailed a local locksmith earlier this week that advertised programming, key cutting..he wanted 250 and has been blowing up my email all week. Maybe I am out of touch but those quotes seem way out of line.

$250 seems about right for laser cut or proximity key/fobs. Also, depending on make of car make sure you bring your current key/fobs with you when getting a new one programmed as some "drop" key/fobs if they aren't present at time of programming.

$250 is cheaper than what the Nissan dealer wanted for a new key. The Fobs on the other hand..Ive bought and programmed (paired) them myself...pretty cheap.

Supposedly, DIY programming is not an option. I've scoured the interwebz off and on over the past 2 years. I picked up a fob for $60, just need the programming

Bummer. DIY key programming was not an option for our Murano, but the fob was pretty easy to do.

My Jetta was only $100 for programming. It's another that requires a "machine" to program.

Dunkirk hardware did one for me. Cut the key, then went to the car and programed it in the parking lot. It was a few years ago so don't know what the price would be now. Also, B+ will give you a lifetime warranty on fob batteries. I had one go bad while in Myrtle Beach, took it to B+ there for a new battery. The clerk told me about the lifetime program, so I took advantage of it. They will replace the battery free for as long as you own the car.

What did I miss?
The press release was written by the company PR people, not the local franchisee. It originally blew on past the franchisee stating they were happy to be expanding to a second location. The PR people put the new location as being the first location in southern Maryland, ignoring the existence of the California store.
