Because there are no white kids born poor

No doubt in my mind it will happen and guess who gets to pay for it.

Once again, the recommendation is to lower the bar, rather than raise it. But I did like the recommendation to re-centralize discipline in the school, rather than just kick the offending student out the door, sending him "home to momma."

As one poor white kid, who got his ass beat by momma when I stepped out of line, who held many textbooks at arms length while on my knees, and received enough ruler raps on the knuckles from teachers...I turned out just fine.

I'm all for it, let's just use funds from section 8, welfare, free school lunches, and all that other good stuff. I'm getting kinda tired of seeing people on section 8 driving nicer cars than me anyway.
Im not for supporting any state sanctioned racist programs.
and when a program is designed to give any racial group privilage that another group is not given, it is racist.

of course, Im sure that by my thinking this way, it only proves how racist I really am.

I personally dont wish to give any of my hard earned dollars to support a programs such as this.
wouldnt it be better just to snatch these kids up and force them into the army where they could at least work for their education?

Actually, all publicly funded fianncial support programs are racially neutral. But it is the minority groups that raise the inadequacies of these programs to the forefront, and make them seem racially divided. Its a public relations thing.

did you read the article?
it is based on only the black students. not the white. and it is only meant for the baltimore city students.
so, the white kid in southern maryland that happens to be too poor to go to college is not going to fit the proper agenda to get some of this free money.

Black students are now being turned away from colleges in the state because they cannot find enough financial aid, he said. So under one of the group's proposals, Maryland would fully fund state need-based grant and scholarship programs.

Its racist

Did you read what I posted? I thought I was pretty clear in my statement.

The fact that this is in the news is motivated by black activist groups. Baltimore is this State's biggest city, and also the home to the majority of black people. As a rule, all white activist groups, rich or poor, are simply "neo-nazis." Its a public relations thing.

Black children almost have a free education thrown at them.... If they dont want to learn and better themselves, then thats their problem. Hell that goes for any child Black, white or brown

At GMHS my senior year, we had the awards assembly at the end of the year where scholarships were handed out. I remember sitting in the career center forever looking for a scholarship but I didn't fit the bill -- I remember specifically seeing a scholarship for students who were interested in journalism and I got all excited until I saw that it was only for Latino students, and then some others but you had to be African American. And guess who got all the scholarship awards? Yeah, you can pretty much guess...I took out student loans & I qualified for a few grants, but that was it.

I'm sorry but this really makes me angry. My tax money is going to pay for this while I'm busting my azz to send my daughter through college and she didn't get any help from anyone because she wasn't a minority. Crap like this burns me up.

IMO, I don't see it as a black students being less qualified and intelligent; I see these students as lazy, combined with lack of motivation. I understand placing better educators in the school, but I sure as h*ll won't pay their full rides through college. They can take out student loans just like the rest of us.

Well I read the article and it sounds like the SOS (Same old Sh---Stuff ) to me.

Acedemics and left wingers have been peddling this same crap for 40 years and not one of them yet has ever placed the blame for blacks being left behind on the blacks.

There are more blacks in prisons.----We hear a lot of reasons for this ,seldom do they mention that more blacks commit crimes.
Blacks are behind whites in the learning curve----More excuses, no one ever says that its because they dont put enough time into doing classwork.
Blacks cant get funds for college-----We never hear about whites not having funds for college ,because they go out and get jobs and start earning a living without college. How many whites who were qualified to go to college didnt have funds to go and yet their parents had too much for them to qualify for scholarships? Does anyone care?

Place released prisoner with black students to mentor them. ----Now thats about the most stupid idea I ever heard. I suppose they would receive some fine instruction on the proper way to sell drugs, or how to hold up a liquor store, Bubba the prison homo might like this idea.

How about rewarding the best teachers by placing them in the worst classes---That would sure help teacher morale and lead to teachers that were afraid to be successful.

If we are going to fully fund college educations we need to fully fund any qualified student, not just black students.

Finally we need to remember that not every student is prepared for college intellectually or acedemically and that this world will always need plumbers and electricians, and auto body repair persons, and a myriad of other jobs ,some that if we are successful in we will earn more than college educated people.

However if we treat these jobs as many do in school and dont learn and apply ourselves it will be much like school. We will fail in life also and life doesnt care what color we are.
