It's been 83 years. The WW2 Generation is mostly gone. WW2 in most of our population is something Generation X and beyond have little knowledge about. They certainly do not study it much in school if at all.

Ah that explains it - when I came by the Ridge Rescue Squad, I noticed the flags and wondered why.

People put Germans on trial after the war for their crimes against humanity. Most of the monsters from japan walked away free. Two bombs wasn't nearly enough. Dr. Mengele did nothing compared to the Japanese.
So Biden should not pardon them like @GregV814 says?

MacArthur may have had a bit to do with that.

Related. Just watching Top Cat cartoon on MeTV. To figure out where the bad guys are, they have to listen for a bunch of alarm clocks going off, but it's noon and the city is busy. The answer? Call the Civil Patrol and ask them to sound the sirens for an air alert. That will make everything shut down, no cars, everyone inside.

An Air Alert. How many remember that? From an early 60's cartoon, but it was just accepted, common, no big deal.

We hear one the first Saturday of every month when they blow the sirens for a test.
