Bed Hog Help!

I am out of ideas on this one and need suggestions. I have a BIG (120 lbs.) Weimeraner that thinks my bed is his. I have tried newspaper, a can with coins to shake at him, and a water squirt bottle but he still insists on sleeping on my bed. He waits until I fall asleep and then he ends up laying on me and I wake up with sore legs. I tried locking him out of the room, but now I have a hole in my door from him trying to get in. Tried a baby gate and he jumped it. Borrowed a friends crate and he cried and barked for 4 hours straight (kids were mad cuz they thought I was hurting him). Any suggestions to stop the madness???

He is master of his domain, I suggest you chose another room in the house as your own. :ohwell:

He is like the "My Buddy" commercial...everywhere I go, he goes. I call him my shadow. If I stop walking quickly enough he walks right into me..funny thing is I can do it 5 times in a row and he just doesn't learn hahaha. Not the brightest star in the sky!

Good luck... but ... I think you kind of like him sleeping in your bed... especially during the cold winter months and now the weather's getting nicer and its warmer out... it's too hot for the two of ya.... Do you have a comfortable couch you can sleep on  If not, explain to him its just temporary and you'll be out of his way in no time. :yay:

Awwww, I'd love to have a big dog-hog in my bed!! My dog-hog is just a small pug pooch, but she can hog as good as any.

The answer is simple. Purchase a king size bed. I've seen a king size bed fit a dalmation, 2 dachshunds, a dachshund coonhound mix who likes to be the middle part of the letter H between one oversized male and average sized female, all sleeping quite comfortably.

My dogs sleep in the bed too. (They're just 20lb JRT's though). I think your screwed. He's learned it's ok and now your trying to kick him out and he's confused. I've always been told that if you let a dog on the furniture that means all furniture cause he doesn't know the difference. I'd definately try and find a training specialist for advice but, "You can't teach and old dog new tricks."

Set up one of those dog elect fences with the collar. Everytime he tries to enter the bedroom or bed he'll get a shock. Just like the ones you'd set up in the yard outside. :yikes: :shocking:

Sounds stupid, but it could work.

Or....

Go with the cage/pen and the electronic bark collar. Had the same problem with my bassett. And while he's only about 60lbs, it's concentrated into a smaller space, so when he lands on you...................... :yikes:

LMAO. I had to do this. My husband let our mastiff sleep in the bed while I was away.
