Looks like he's getting ready to shed.
Well he can shed elsewhere!!! Hubby re-located him to the woods. Hope he stays there!!!

Copperhead. Poisonous, but not fatal (usually). Nasty bite though. Myself, I don't like any snake!! Thank goodness I have Hubby to "re-locate" them to the woods!!

That would be a rattlesnake. And though some people say they are not around here, my Mom remembers killing some when her folks had a cabin on Battle Creek years ago! She swears she also shot cotton mouths there. Of course, I was too young to remember!!
