She asked what people thought...
I agree...cant see the eyes..
In any animal or people for that matter, the eyes need to be sharp and crisp.
It is how we see...our eyes go from dark to light and we look at eyes first..esp. in pet photos...
No eye sparkle, not attractive.
It is about composition and light...
What kind of camera you shooting with Mouse?
How long have you been taking pictures?

I have a copy of your first cat and adjusted it in my photo editor to bring out the eyes....can I put it up?

I am an extreme novice at this and the camera I am using is a Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ8

Wonderful camera, I do have some other beautiful shots of my other cats. It's just very hard to get this kitten to cooperate! :lmao:

OK..Just light the face and the eyes from the side...
You get red eye if you shoot front on.

Use a flashlight to light one side and see how that looks.
Many of the digitals have a centered mounted flash that washes out the face..
Focus ON the eyes and use indirect light..
You can diffuse the light by placing a single sheet of tissue paper over the flash...
Experiment..
and dont shoot down feedback when you ASK for feedback.

I think the photos ae very poor, you can not see the detail in the cat and the white light (a window?) behind the cat is distracting.

Edit, clean up your pictures before posting them....be your judge before you ask the forum to judge them.

Nice cat by the way....

Ok, I will try that, truthfully didn't notice the tv in the background. I guess I need to pay more attention to those details. Your right about that flash, its just awful! I was using a little led light to light him but didn't realize it made the pic so blue til you pointed it out. I am going to find and post the pics I took of my other two cats. HVP said they were good.

These were taken when I first got the camera and HVP was giving me some pointers.

Hey, these are very good!
Eyes nice and sharp and in focus..and that little sparkel..see it? Your eye gets drawn right into the cats eyes...then the human eye looks at the rest of the photo...

Only thing I would suggest next time is to shoot AT the cat..at it's level..not down on the cat....

Very nice warm, soft tones on the tuxedo.
Very good photograph! :yay:

Thanks a lot! I really like these two photo's. I have one my 15 yr. took that I am particularly proud of. It was done in color but when I turned it black and white it just made the picture. What do you think about his pic?

Mouse,
I edited your cat using the free photo editor Picasa...a delightful program that does magical things to your photos.

Here is your tuxedo after 4 simple steps.
I sharpened it x1.
I straigntened it a little bit
I lightened it a bit to bring out the entire cat.
I changed the tone a bit to soften the contrast between the solid waall and the right side of the cats head.
Total time, less tahn 3 minutes.
Might give it a try and see how it "fixes" someof the stuff your camera cant.

Here is your kitty.
Before and After.

A bit dark..lack of contrast...but I like the composition!
What did the color one look like?

This one looks "mystical"..... :yay:

Actually the color one was a bit grainy so when I turned it black and white and used the one step noise removal in my PSP11 program it made it better. When I used the autofix it made it too bright. I am not good with doing that stuff manually. I get too frustrated with it too fast
