Being vigilant...

I was watching a news program last night and they were talking about the bombings in Spain.

A reporter asked Tom Ridge (Homeland Security Secretary) about the chances of terrorists doing the same here in the US and he said that he thought that we're doing a good job in our country and we must remain vigilant to help thwart further attacks.

Then it occurred to me that there are bombings all the time all over the Middle East.
I'd be damn sure to bet that those people have to be HYPER vigilant all the time. Is it doing them any good?

I'd also bet that they have screw tops for necks from looking around them all the time and checking around every corner.

With a nod to John Stossel...."GIMME A BREAK"!!!!

Asking people to be aware of their surroundings & report unusual activity; in essense, stop living like sheep....Is that so bad? The Ohio sniper was caught due to a vigilant nobody with a pizza.

Obviously, in a free society, there's no way to prevent every act of terror. Hence the importantance of taking the fight to them. But an extra 250 million pairs of eyes looking out for the unusual certainly can't hurt. If, however, it bothers you that much, then don't worry about it.
