Merlin, who had been at the Utica Zoo since 2006, was roaming around the grounds at approximately 10 a.m. when he flew over a fence and into the African Lion exhibit. Unable to fly out, Merlin was captured by a lion.

The zoo mourned the white adult male peacock's passing on Facebook

In about 24 hours they'll get to mourn his second passing.

Apex predators gonna predate.

I bet for the lions, eating a peacock is like a person on vacation getting a drink with a little umbrella on it. The useless, colorful garnish makes it all the more festive.
