Presidential contenders are in a battle to out give one another. Senator Elizabeth Warren proposes a whopping $50,000 per student college loan forgiveness. Senator Bernie Sanders proposes free health care for all Americans plus illegal aliens. Most Democratic presidential candidates promise free stuff that includes free college, universal income, "Medicare for All" and debt forgiveness.

Their socialist predecessors made promises too. "Freedom and Bread" was the slogan used by Adolf Hitler during the National Socialist German Workers' Party (Nazi) campaign against president Paul von Hindenburg. Hitler even promised, "In the Third Reich every German girl will find a husband." Stalin promised a great socialist-Marxist society that included better food and better worker conditions. China's Mao Zedong promised democratic constitutionalism and the dream that "farmers have land to till." These, and other promises, gave Mao the broad political support he needed to win leadership of the entire country in 1949.

Socialism promises a utopia that sounds good, but those promises are never realized. It most often results in massive human suffering. Capitalism fails miserably when compared with a heaven or utopia promised by socialism. But any earthly system is going to come up short in such a comparison. Mankind must make choices among alternative economic systems that actually exist. It turns out that for the common man capitalism, with all of its alleged shortcomings, is superior to any system yet devised to deal with his everyday needs and desires. By most any measure of human well-being, people who live in countries toward the capitalistic end of the economic spectrum are far better off than their fellow men who live in countries toward the socialist end. Why?

The crazy thing is these 2 candidates and others are making their platform of giving away trillions of dollars in freebies, while bitching about the national debt.

Bernie Sanders Wants to Give 11M Illegal Immigrants Health Care Under Medicare for All

On Friday, Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), the runner-up for the 2016 Democratic presidential nomination and a 2020 candidate, said his "Medicare for All" program would extend health care coverage to the 11 million illegal immigrants in the U.S.

"We are gonna end that and create a Medicare for All healthcare system which guarantees health care to every man woman and child and saves the average American substantial sums of money," Sanders said at the NALEO conference in Miami.

Bernie Sanders Plans to Give Illegal Aliens Free College Tuition

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), a 2020 Democratic presidential candidate, said on Friday that his Medicare for all health care plan and his tuition-free public college proposal would cover undocumented immigrants.

“I will not deny that every country on earth that has a national health care program all have problems, that's the nature of health care and a changing technology," Sanders said at a candidate forum in Miami during the annual conference of the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials (NALEO) on Friday.

"I believe that health care is a human right. When I talk about health care being a human right, last time I heard that undocumented people are human beings as well," he added.

The Problem with "Free" College | Joe Rogan & Andrew Yang

I just watched this. I wish they'd cover more about why free college is a bad idea - mostly they brought up why college as
of late is turning out to be a really bad return on investment, especially in certain careers. I have to add however, that
part of the reason why trades pay so well is - there's not enough of them, at least not skilled ones. Do you want to know
why a chimney sweep gets paid so well? Try and FIND one.

It did give me more input on Andrew Yang, who comes across as intelligent and genuine in this video.
For a minute - until I read more - I thought maybe this guy might be worth a vote, especially since I am actually
a registered Democrat, which surprises most people, since I've conservative and vote more often for Republicans.

On the other hand, Yang's big issue on the road is Universal Basic Income, a concept that has failed incredibly
virtually everywhere it has been tried. It's like that line in A Princess Bride when they go into the Fire Swamps and
Buttercup says "We'll never survive" where Wesley answers "Nonsense! You're only saying that because no one ever has."

Let me make a prediction - Sanders is NOT going to be the candidate. Why? Because everyone is co-opting his message.
He appealed last time around because he proposed something the establishment candidate WASN'T saying.

But I heard him saying this, and it seems syllogistic in a bizarre way (and also seems to contradict the premise he spoke
earlier - in that, you can't have rampant illegal immigration in a nation that gives so much away - because you can't afford it.)
And that is - health care is a human right, therefore anyone who is human is entitled to us GIVING it to them.

Really? Is it a human right, because it is an essential need? Isn't that the reasoning? Well so is food, clothing and shelter.
Heck, I'd even say LOVE is a basic human need, but the government isn't tasked with the responsibility of providing it to everyone.
That's just life.

Admittedly he is NOT saying we'll give free stuff to illegals - but not YOU. He's saying everyone including illegals will get free
stuff.

Yep ... Progressives do not understand MONEY is a finite resource, some will argue TAX the Rich or just print more .....

More Weath can be created by businesses ... but if you tax them heavily expansion and innovation drys up as do the profits

"and saves the average American substantial sums of money,..." :killingme
Two things - I never believe that taking money out of my left pocket and dropping it in my right saves me money,
which is what it is when you tax someone a lot to get something "free".

Someone could make the argument that the "average" American will save - but not since it WILL result
in inferior care - which is my second point. If your "free" health care ends up being worse - and still costing
you more in taxes and costs (because even Medicare isn't totally free) - it's not saving anything.

And my biggest concern with "free care" is, the path back to what we have now will be gone.
If it sucks, you will not be able to "undo" it.

Sanders calls for wiping out $1.6 trillion in student debt by taxing Wall Street

Speaking outside of the Capitol building and flanked by Reps. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., and Pramila Jayapal, D-Wash., Sanders called for the elimination of all student loan debt held by 54 million Americans – from both public and private educations – and making public universities, community colleges and trade schools free to attend.

“This proposal will make it possible for every person in America to get a college education no matter what their financial situation,” Sanders said. “We will make a full and complete education a fundamental right.”

Sanders said his plan, which would put a tax on speculation from major Wall Street banks, would raise more than $2 trillion over 10 years -- though some tax experts give lower revenue estimates. The proposal would hit financial institutions with a 0.5 percent tax on stock transactions and a 0.1 percent tax on bonds.

Can we make it retroactive?

Bernie Sanders has now promoted a $16.3 trillion climate plan on Thursday. The Sanders proposal envisions a significant expansion of the government's role in the economy. No! Bernie Sanders a socialist? No! He would offer billions in subsidies to replace gas-guzzling vehicles with electric ones by 2030, a new public system of clean electricity generation that could sideline private utilities, and an infrastructure program that would remake much of the economy and employ an estimated 20 million more Americans.

This is one of the beautiful things about being a Democrat. You just say stuff like, "I'm going to spend one bajillion dollars and it will create 20 bajillion jobs." And we're like, how? "It just will man!" Remember when Barack Obama was talking about shovel-ready jobs that didn't materialize and then he was talking about green jobs that didn't materialize. Now Bernie Sanders is doing the same thing, and the media is like [clapping].
