Best flea, tick product?

So, I got a new puppy. Need to get her on some flea-tick preventer. I'm thinking Advantix, but I hav'nt had a dog for years and I'm not up on the new products. Any opinions on the best stuff?
I'm also thinking of using Interceptor for heartworm prevention. Good?
