Best location for small outdoor wedding?

Me and the significant other is getting married and need some ideas. We wanted to get married in the courthouse next month and then have our big wedding next year, but I am beggining to not want to get married in the courthouse. Does anyone know of a nice public outdoor area where I could have a wedding of less than 30 guests?

It used to be that you could be married right outside the courthouse. Is that no longer available?
If you're using the clerk, they'll travel. Garden of Memories at St. Mary's College is nice. There's a gazebo behind Olde Breton Inn. You could even have it in your back yard.

Where are my pants?
We had our wedding ceremony at the Old Breton Inn in Leonardtown (out back in the gazebo), and then our reception inside their dining room in the main house. Ours was about 120 guests, but they certainly could accommodate a smaller crowd. It's not public, though, and I do believe the 5 hour site rental ran somewhere around $800 (five years ago).

If you're looking for a free space, how about a park or beach?

I am very open to having it at a park or beach. I just don't know which one is best and appropriate. I just don't want to let it get big. We just want to exchange vows somewhere special even though we will be having a big wedding next year....we are having a shotgun wedding to make our 7 year relationship right before our little one comes 6 months from now.

Greenwell State Park has a nice setup. I know at one time they even rented the manor house. Great for a small wedding. It is on the water.

My sister got married at the State House at Historic St. Mary's City. It was lovely. You could try there.

Not sure if it would be allowed but what about St. Clements Island.

No good suggestions, but congrats on the wedding and the baby coming. :howdy:

I have seen ceremonies done at the gazebo along the boardwalk on Solomon's. They were small and very pretty right there on the water.

I got married at Greenwell State Park about 5 years ago and it was beautiful. We had our ceremony in the rose garden and our reception in a huge tent in the yard beside the manor house. You get use of the manor house with the rental and you can have the ceremony in there also. I found the price very reasonable compared to other places.

Congrats!

Both Mary's Hope and Woodlawn (off Wynne Rd in Ridge) are both great places for an outdoor wedding - Mary's Hope has a gazeebo you can get married in and Woodlawn has many scenic spots, and there you can even get married out on a pier.

My wedding and reception were at Mary's Hope this past July. We had the ceremony at the gazebo by the water and then moved indoors for the reception. We had a guest count in the mid 60's. It was perfect for that size and would work for even a smaller number of guests. It is a beautiful place!

My sister got married there too,, Absolutely Breathtaking

I got married at Swan Point under the Gazebo overlooking the water at sunset.. They don't charge for the rental of the ground if you use the clubhouse to have your reception.
