Go down to Point Lookout and enjoy the park, hit the beach, bike ride, cook out, camp if you're of a mind.

Sunday is AYCE taco bar at Chief's in Tall Timbers. $5. Or at least used to be - can somebody verify?

Kayaking at Breton Bay in Leonardtown. http://www.paxadventure.com/

Take a drive down to St. George Island, stop at Ruddy Duck for lunch or dinner. https://www.ruddyduckseafood.com/

Highly underrated is Flag Pond in Calvert County! It has a great beach and hiking trails! Small fee per car.(you can get a season pass!) It is definitely my favorite place in all of Southern Maryland!

If you are new to this general area, the museums at the Smithsonian are free admittance. In fact, many of the major attractions in DC are free. Eat at one of the food carts for a "see it like a native" experience.

Baltimore is worth a visit and can be as cheap or expensive as you want it to be.

Annapolis is closer and strolling the downtown harbor is a pleasant way to spend a day.

The best places in my opinion are all the parks along Rt 4 heading to Solomons Island. So you have American Land Trust (north and south), you have Calvert Cliffs, Cypress Swamp, Flags Ponds. They have beautiful hiking trails for miles. There are not many people on the trail and you can be there and not see someone for a good hour or more.

Point Lookout I didn't really care for.

nobody really

I need a nap
North Beach Farmers Market is open now, Friday evenings 6-9. Great for the family, car shows, wine tasting, local farmers market.

x2. Always a good time.

Also, check out Maryland International Raceway ("Budds Creek") in Budds Creek, MD. Either go for a legit NHRA drag race, or head down on a Friday for some street car action.

If you're in to hiking, check out the American Chestnut Land Trust in Calvert County. Over 20 miles of trails and occasional canoe trips.

Agreed to all of the above. I would add a drive through Jefferson Patterson Park (I may have said that wrong) is nice as is exploring any of the beachfront communities (some nice houses / some older cottages, etc.) It's a really beautiful area with lots of picturesque farmland.

TnT's on Friday night are great (I use to run in these quite a bit when I was younger). Some amazing cars. Also keep an eye out for activities on the adjacent race property (Budds Creek Motocross Park). It's truly a redneck affair (shirts with sleeves will have you overdressed) but it's a good time with plenty of action (at a good price).

Go the back way for some sight-seeing through Amish Country. Some pretty cool sites to see. Just watch out for the horse and buggies and the landmines they leave behind.

Potomac Speedway is a stone's throw from MIR if you prefer an oval dirt track. If you like a beach, no one has mentioned Breezy Point in Calvert yet.

I had gotten free tickets to budds creek raceway but never went.

Don't tell anybody but Greenwell state park is typically deserted and has the best walking and mountain biking trails in the area. It's teaming with wildlife, me and the pup saw many groundhogs, bunnies, deer,
and even a fox just yesterday.
Historic Saint Mary's City is a great visit, kids love the Dove. Don't miss the miles of free, always open trails with nice waterside walks.
The Pax River Aviation Museum. I'm a proud volunteer there, so my opinion is biased.
Any event on the square in lovable Leonardtown. First Fridays rule.
Get a kayak or canoe and enjoy St. Mary's River state park. It's really a nice lake full of panfish and there are rumors bass are in there. I'm a crappie fisherman! Worms and small hooks get all the sunfish a kid can catch.
Amish markets. All of them are worth visiting.

In addition to Greenwell, there is a newly opened state park on S. Sandgates Road, Mechanicsville. Snow Hill State Park. I haven't visited yet myself, but it is also waterfront with beach access.

Probably very entertaining.
I find the drive alone on Great Mills Road to be exhilarating, particularly at sundown. You never know what will show up on the road in front of you.
